Gynecology

Our gynecologic and urogynecologic specialists offer the full spectrum of gynecologic services, from well-woman exams to incontinence treatment. We use advanced technologies to maintain your gynecologic health and have expertise in treating a range of conditions, such as endometriosis, infections, menstrual difficulties and pelvic organ prolapse.

Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery

Surgery may be the most effective treatment for many gynecologic conditions. Surgeons at HCA Virginia hospitals have extensive experience performing robotic-assisted surgery for women's health conditions.

Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery that enhances your surgeon's vision and precision and requires very small incisions. Our proficiency with minimally invasive techniques means you experience less pain and scarring and a quicker recovery after your surgery.

Genetic counseling and fertility services

We offer genetic counseling to evaluate any risk factors, health conditions or previous pregnancy complications that could affect your baby. If you need a little help to start or expand your family, we also provide fertility services through Chippenham Hospital's women's care program.

Some of our fertility services include:

  • Embryo cryopreservation
  • In vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injections (ICSI)
  • Oocyte donation
  • Ovulation induction and artificial insemination, including intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Pregnancy and childbirth care

Our goal is to help you and your baby stay healthy during pregnancy. To do this, we offer a range of prenatal care services, including high-risk pregnancy care, maternity classes, maternal addiction programs and personalized birth planning.

The pregnancy and childbirth specialists at our hospitals are dedicated to helping you create your ideal labor and delivery experience. We provide pain management and childbirth options for every preference, and we support doula and midwifery care. If your baby needs extra support after birth, our hospitals' neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) have doctors and nurses highly trained to care for ill and premature newborn babies.

Maternal–Fetal Medicine

Once pregnant, you or your baby may need specialized care. If you have been identified as having a high-risk pregnancy, we will refer you to one of our maternal-fetal specialists (perinatologists). From preeclampsia to gestational diabetes, our teams of experts can help minimize your dangers of a high–risk pregnancy and help ensure a healthy journey for you both.

Whether you are having trouble managing a major life change or are dealing with depression and anxiety, we can help. We offer comprehensive behavioral health services to help you achieve maximum wellness.

Additionally, we provide day-treatment programs to help mothers address substance abuse issues and manage a healthy pregnancy.
